US Open 2022: Woman caught hilariously knitting during semi-final thriller, tennis news
The marathon Frances Tiafoe-Carlos Alcaraz US Open semi-final sent Ashe Stadium into an uproar on Saturday AEST, but it seemingly wasn’t entertaining enough for one fan.
Cameras caught a woman in the stand knitting during the five-set thriller that was eventually won by Alcaraz, the NY Post reported.

The scene drew typically hilarious responses on social media.
“Imagine being in the same room as Michelle Obama, watching an epic tennis match, and all you ca. [sic] think about is knitting,” one fan tweeted.
“Well why not? Just here to knit in our $10,000 seats,” one journalist wrote.
It wasn’t the first bizarre viral moment from the stands. Earlier in the week, YouTube star JiDion received a haircut during the quarterfinal match between Australia’s Nick Kyrgios and Russia’s Karen Khachanov.
And last week, American woman Megan Lucky went viral after she chugged a beer while getting a standing ovation from the rest of the crowd.
Alcaraz went on to win the must-win contest 6-7 (8), 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3, ending the spectacular run by Tiafoe, who was seeking to become the first American to reach the men’s final since Andy Roddick in 2003.
The teenage Spaniard will play Norway’s Casper Ruud in Monday morning’s finale.
Later on Sunday morning, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek won her third grand slam singles title, defeating Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in straight sets on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
